(Matinees Sun 4 March, Sun 10 March and Sat 17 March) Sylvia A comedy by A.R. Gurney. Directed by Catherine Garside. By special arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia
Empty nesters Greg and Kate have moved back to Manhattan after twenty-two years in the suburbs. Greg's career is starting to wind down, while Kate's career is beginning to take off. One day Greg brings home a stray dog from the park, with only the name “Sylvia” on her collar. Greg and Sylvia soon become inseparable friends. Kate thinks of her as a rival for Greg’s attention, putting their marriage in serious jeopardy, but Sylvia just thinks Kate can’t understand the relationship between a dog and her human. After a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate eventually learn the gentle art of compromise, and Sylvia ends up becoming a valued part of both their lives.
