Important update on One Man, Two Guvnors from the Lilydale Athenaeum Theatre President
5 November 2026
Dear Patrons
It is with regret that we announce the postponement of One Man, Two Guvnors.
Substantial termite damage has been discovered beneath the stage of the Athenaeum Theatre making the area unsafe.
Yarra Ranges Council is fully aware of the situation and is currently assessing the full extent of the damage. Council is supportive of the necessary rectification works and of the Lilydale Athenaeum Theatre as we work towards resolving the issue as quickly as possible.
We anticipate that these works will take some time and will impact our 2027 program. At this stage, it is too early to determine the time frame, but we are committed to presenting One Man, Two Guvnors as soon as the theatre is deemed safe to reopen.
As a courtesy we are contacting One Man, Two Guvnors ticket-holders first and we will be contacting the rest of our patrons across the coming days.
Patrons who have purchased tickets to the current production, or who have already subscribed to 2027, are welcome to contact the theatre to discuss a refund.
While this is devastating news for our theatre community, we are incredibly thankful that the damage was discovered before something more serious occurred.
We will keep our patrons and community updated as further information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support of the Lilydale Athenaeum Theatre.
Yours sincerely
ALAN BURROWS
