Steel Magnolias

Steel Magnolias A comedy-drama by Robert Harling Directed by Lyn Carr Season 1 2013: 6 March to 23 March By special arrangement with Origin Theatrical Pty Ltd Steel Magnolias, described as "the funniest play ever to make you cry", is set in Truvy's Beauty Parlour in Americas Deep South, where six remarkable ladies come to have their hair done. The distraught Annelle; the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy; the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby, is about to marry. These women are bonded together by their mutual triumphs and tragedies, enjoying a friendship that spans the boundaries of age and status. Sharing each other's strengths and loyalty, they survive the cycles of life, birth and death to emerge stronger, closer and still laughing! As the title suggests, the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel".
